STUDIO ACOUSTICS, MONITORS & HEADPHONES

YOUR LISTENING ENVIRONMENT

.

.

Learn how to optimize your studio listening environment with this 6-hour, 2-part, training course.

.

No matter what style of music you create and where you are currently in your studio setup development, there are things you may wish to improve in your studio setup, but you don't know where to start or what is possible.

Through practical examples and theory, Jan Pienkowski draws from his work as a Physicist in Acoustics and as a Mixing & Mastering engineer, to show you what are the steps (and in what order) needed to have the best sound possible with the space and equipment that you currently use, as well as the practical pros and cons of improving upon them. The course will also introduce you to many high quality free and inexpensive measurement and calibration tools available today.

.

Why is the listening environment important?

While there have been a great amount of changes and improvements to the workflow of music makers and studios engineers over the years, there is still one thing that hasn't changed - and that is our ears and the way we hear sound. The physics of how we are able to hear all this has not changed. This remains the most important aspect of production, mixing and mastering, as all the decisions we make depend on what we can actually hear. What we hear is down to the choice of our monitoring setup and the acoustics that are involved.
