This 12-hour training course is aimed at those who have taken our Mixing and Mastering 1 course (at ONO ED or previously at the SAT) or already have a practical knowledge of mixing and mastering (see knowledge requirements in the "Practical Info" section below) and are aiming to further fine-tune their knowledge and skills to create mixes and masters at the level of songs of their favorite artists!

Through practical examples, theory, articles and discussions, Jan Pienkowski will guide you through the step by step process and techniques used by mixing and mastering engineers today. The course takes the concepts and tools learned in our Mixing and Mastering 1 course and shows you more advanced techniques while also introducing you to concepts and tools not covered previously. There will also be a more in-depth analysis of the Mastering stage, giving you advanced techniques to finalize your songs.

Teacher, DJ / Live, Producer, Mixing and Mastering Engineer, Physicist in Acoustics

Owner of ONO ED and music labels ONO Records and ONOMAR, Jan loves to create and share his unique blend of music and sounds, combining ambient soundscapes with house, techno, dub, world, classical and jazz. Apart from his studio work for labels, dance, film and video game projects, Jan has performed as a DJ and Live performer of his own music at more than a thouasand shows, appearing in over 150 Festivals (OFF Sonar, MUTEK, ELEKTRA, MEG, Nuit Blanche) and venues around the world.

In 2006, his DJ course founded the school at the SAT in Montreal where for 17 years he taught and developed numerous audio courses with great success. Having recently moved to Nice, France, he created ONO ED as a way to continue sharing his knowledge and passion for all that is audio, music and technology.

Practical Info

• Have taken our Mixing and Mastering 1 course, either at ONO ED or previously at the SAT.

• or already have a practical knowledge of all of the following:

  • Know how to balance a mix with Volume, Panning, EQ and Compression;
  • Know how to use Dynamic EQ and Side-chain Compression;
  • Know how to use Send/Returns with Reverbs for Blend (first reflections) and Size;
  • Know how to use a Volume Meter to match LUFS levels between songs, your projects and reference tracks;
  • Know how to use a Limiter;
  • Know how to use a Limiter and a Volume Meter to set LUFS and Peak levels.

• Our classes are all given online in small groups (maximum of 10 places), live in the presence of a highly qualified instructor.

• Our group courses are held small in order to give you a comfortable learning environment where you have time to ask questions and receive proper feedback on your projects.

• We use a high quality video and audio platform necessary for teaching audio and music courses. The platform runs directly in your web browser of choice, no installation necessary.

• On the day of the first course, you will receive a welcome email with an invitation link to join the classroom.

• While the online courses can be taken from anywhere in the world, ONO ED currently offers course schedules and payment options optimized for Canada and Europe.

• Please be sure to be in the appropriate version of the website's region (Canada or Europe) in order to be able to see and choose the schedules that are best suited for your needs.

• We offer most courses in English and in French. The languages offered for each course, along with their respective dates and times, are indicated on each course page.

• Please be sure to choose the appropriate registration button for the language you would like to take the course in.

• For the moment we only have programs for adults and therefore the minimum age to participate in our courses is 18 years old.

.

• For any registration cancellation requests, please contact us by email at moc.deono@ofni no later than 5 days before the start of the course to allow us enough time to give your place to another person. The $20 file opening fee included in the registration fee, as well as the $10 service fee for web registration, is non-refundable.

• Once the deadline has passed, we will not refund the registration. However, it may be possible to grant a credit and reserve a place for you in the next group of the course in question.

• In exceptional circumstances, ONO ED reserves the right at any time to cancel or postpone any course activity it organizes. In the event of a course cancellation, ONO ED will notify registrants as soon as possible and will offer to each registered participant a choice of either keeping their registration payment as credit for other courses they wish to take or to be refunded 100% of the registration fee. In the absence of a response, the participant will be refunded 100%.

• If the activity is postponed to a later date, ONO ED will offer to each registered participant to transfer them to the new date (at no extra cost to the participant), which the participant can accept or decline. If the participant declines the transfer, or in the absence of a response, the participant will be refunded 100%.
